La Brisa House

La Brisa is a summer house project designed in Chile and built in José Ignacio, Uruguay. The project explores exposed timber structure as both support and container of domestic space. The house is conceived as a structural envelope composed of four compression trusses. The two lateral trusses replace traditional perimeter walls, while the upper ones replace the roof structure, eliminating the need for conventional exterior walls and roof framing.

At the ridge, the trusses rest on a lattice beam supported by concrete walls, which divide the volume into two areas: a large open social space with no internal structural elements, hosting the living and dining areas, and a more private zone containing the bedrooms and kitchen.

Structural loads are transferred laterally through inclined concrete piles that follow the geometry of the trusses. A pitched roof, layered over the main structure, protects the building while revealing the white structural skeleton from the interior, defining the spatial identity of the project.
